Operating biography

A finance leader shaped by building.

Karl’s perspective was formed inside operating companies, not only inside a finance department. He founded and scaled Macadam Floor & Design, helped create the systems required to manage growth, and later led finance and operating work in construction, broadband, and multi-state infrastructure environments.

That background connects strategy to execution. Revenue quality, working capital, job cost, forecasting, capital, contracts, technology, and leadership are not separate conversations. They are parts of one operating model.

Today, Karl leads KSIG Advisors for interim and fractional CFO work and BlackBoxx.ai for applied AI systems, automation, and agentic workflows.

His diagnostic approach is consistent: benchmark the economics, isolate the anomaly, then trace it through the operating model, incentives, systems, and decisions behind the numbers.

Current development

Depth without pretending one discipline is every discipline.

Karl is completing MIT Sloan Executive Education coursework and is a CMA Candidate. His legal and commercial work centers on issue framing, contract economics, risk assessment, negotiation, and disciplined coordination of specialized outside counsel. It does not imply attorney status.

His technology work includes finance-system design, build-vs-buy analysis, technology ROI, cost-center and internal-recharge design, security and customization tradeoffs, AI-assisted development, and integration between financial controls and operating technology.
